The Circumference
I came across a highly intriguing site last night: TheCircumference.org. The about section does a good job of describing, um … what they’re all about (clever page name that), but one line above the rest does significant justice to what I feel is the site’s general intentions:
The Circumference is a collection of unique life experiences set to inspire life’s travels.
What a great mission for anyone to have! The idea is to have a collection of staff contributors along with various freelance writers not only penning their own personal experiences from these unique life adventures, but also adding in any details an inspired traveler would need to get their wanderlust butt on the road, i.e. local places to stay, approximate pricing, best time of the year to visit, etc etc.
Truly, I have mixed feelings about the site so far. On the one hand, it’s been my goal for years to devise a way to help people get out & see the world, & not just the preplanned tourist experiences put into place by other countries, but the places most people rarely get to see & almost never know how to see. This site seems to be heading in that precise direction, which is fantastic! On the other hand, they thought of it before I did…
Only joking. Good on ‘em for getting out there & helping people visit this flat world all these people who are smarter than me are talking about! Plus, I can’t be too terrible mad at them – I signed up last night to be a freelancer!
